Thank you all for commenting and providing an almost completely healthy discussion regarding the situation that Hillel is faced with. I wanted to update you all as administrator of this site to provide some information regarding the site’s comment policy.
So far, just about every comment has been published. The exception to this rule comes from students who are writing complete nonsense comments, such as “HOLA COMO ESTAS” 300 times over or someone who pretends that their cat sat on their keyboard. Since these comments don’t add value to the mission of this site, they simply do not belong here and the comments have not been approved. Be advised that I am allowing for a healthy discourse here, but immature responses will be handled appropriately.
This site does will not promote “slander,” “libel,” or harassment. I will not post any messages that call out educators, former or current, about alleged affairs. I encourage discussion both to promote and to oppose this cause, but I will not condone any harmful or hurtful statements, especially regarding individuals who have nothing to do with Hillel’s current demise. This site will not promote personal attacks against any individuals. If you think Hillel is weak, that is fine, and I encourage you to say so without you naming a list of educators who failed academically or in their personal lives.
Please stay on topic. Whether or not you approve of a certain former employee of Hillel or don’t like a student who posted their message on this site, I do not want to have to respond to the inappropriate comments. As I said before, I won’t restrict dialogue as long as it is mature (see first paragraph) but these comments are just not acceptable. This is a healthy discussion and I will not tolerate insults that do not serve the purpose of this site.
If your statements meet the above criteria, please do not feel restricted. As any commenter on this site can tell you, you have the ability to hide your identity or reveal it. You can submit any comment — with your name attached or without it — via the Contact Form. Feel free to exercise your own judgment. I have also been asked to remove comments and have done so accordingly. If you feel your comment is too harshly stated or need to revise your statements, please feel free to let me know. But above all, if you want your voice to be heard, write in and I will publish it as long as it meets the minimum requirements as specified above.
Thank you all again for helping realize the dream of this site (and also posting your own views to the contrary). Please continue to inform your family members and friends about this site and I look forward to publishing your stories.
