A revised petition has been written and reworded. The parent has written in:
In an effort to appease those who did not want to sign the original petition and requested a simple one, a new simple 2 line petition requesting a meeting with the board has been posted. Here is the link:

Electronic signatures are valid.
Fifty signatures are needed - - let’s get the word out as time is is the essence.

This one does not give enough information about the purpose of the meeting requested.
I apologize for not putting this up sooner. Here’s my suggested language. It gives enough information for the Board to give proper notice later (required by the bylaws) but has none of the anger. Let’s discuss it a little before posting it this time so we don’t have 100 petitions floating around. (I have no idea how to put it on the petition site anyway).
Petition to Call for A Special Meeting of the Members of Hillel
Dear Rafael Russ,
So that we can better understand the ramifications of recent changes in Hillel faculty and in preparation for the Annual Meeting of Members this June, the undersigned hereby request a Special Meeting of the Members of the Hillel Community Day School and the Ben Lipson Hillel Community High School within then next twenty one (21) days per the Amended and Restated By-Laws of the Hillel Community Day School, Inc., Article III Paragraph B, in order to discuss the following issues:
1. The recent evaluation process that lead to the termination of several longstanding and distinguished High School teachers.
2. The Board of Governors’ “Vision for the Future.”

Electronic signatures maybe valid, but you must be a member to be counted towards the fifty. I think anyone who wants to sign should, but if you are a member, indicate “member” near your name and include sufficient information so that we can verify your membership status.

you kids are an embarrasment to the jewish nation ..that you question your higher authority ,,just imagine if you were a teacher and someone with a large checkbook dosnt want you so all of a sudden your out the door …shame shame shame

sorry you feel that way. People are allowed to question authority especially if they feel that their authority is not listening to them. Blind acceptance of authority would be completely questionable. I think that this web site shows that a lot of people feel that questioning is the only way to get answers we have not gotten yet.
checkbook holders should not be making these choices especially if they are not experiencing the education firsthand. But that’s just my opinion.

Concerned118: I think the petition is very well written and I support it.
Shame: Are you a sheep that follows blind to the slaughter?
If you are, then it is you who is the embarrassment to the Jewish nation.
By the way, when did the Jewish nation elect you as its spokesperson?

Listen folks,
You are all undermining this cause. Pick one petition now and stick with it . People have already emailed out the original link.
Now all those signatures will be lost.
We can’t keep revising…figure it out fast so we can get the word out . Time is of the essence and this has gotten counterproductive!!!!

Shame, your statement is completely incoherent and makes no sense. Master the English language so we can understand what you’re saying and respond in kind.

Michael and I like what you wrote. I would venture to guess others will too. Let’s get that one up now so we don’t have 3 million petitions floating around. Let’s get it done quickly.
Thanks you

Ladies and Gentlemen:
It is counterproductive to continue to post petitions. As I see it, the second petition states we need a meeting - - that is all that is needed at this point. The by laws do not say that a request needs to provide the reason why - - that information may be provided in a cover letter to the actual petition for meeting when provided to the board.
Additionally, the By-Laws futher state that the letter requesting a “special meeting” must be signed by NO LESS THAN 50 MEMBERS. MEMBERS are defined as parents in the school in good standing “financially” and/or individuals who have made a contribution in the amount of $1,000 or more and Any parent who was a Member for the preceding year shall remain a Member for each succeeding year in which he/she has made a contribution of $1000 prior to January 1st.
Therefore, it is of utmost importance that this petition be signed by MEMBERS. Please inform your qualified FRIENDS AND RELATIVES to sign the petition.
Without such support our cause will fail.
Good Shabbos and Chag Sameach!!

shame….Don’t criticize everyone if you have nothing contstructive to say. Moreover, put your name and don’t be scared to say what you have to say behind a fake name.

Anonymous: You make excellent points . Let’s keep the second petition.
PARENTS: PLEASE CIRCULATE THE CURRENT PETITION TO ALL OF THE PARENT BODY.

Anonymous- thanks for pointing out the by-laws.
Please clarify if those who do not fall under that category should still be signing the petition or if we should forward to others.
13 Citizen Citizen // Mar 30, 2007 at 4:44 pm
Looks to me like we should be forwarding it to others
Current parents and former parents who contribute a minimum of $1000 a year.
Is that correct?
14 Citizen Citizen // Mar 30, 2007 at 4:45 pm
Current parents who pay full tuition, I think?
15 Citizen Citizen // Mar 31, 2007 at 10:24 pm
Any parent who is in good financial standing.

Petition signing clarification - - as requested

These are the individuals eligible to sign. Please put your category in the comment field so that we know you should be counted.
