What Do You Mean?

This was sent to me via email by Sasha Parets.

This come from the heart of a student where Hillel was her home. I am proud to be writing on a website that is for this cause. Hillel is a home for its students and to take away a part of that home away is ludicrous. Mrs. Heber, Mrs. Galitzer and Rabbi Lefokowitz are three influences in our home. There is a concept called Shalom Bayit in Judaism. And by getting rid of these fantastic teachers they are destroying this very concept, in which I learned within the walls of Hillel. Mrs. Heber is heartful teacher, and cares for each and every student bringing a sense that Hillel is a home. She adopts each of her students as one of her own. She makes learning fun, for her students and makes the atmosphere enjoyable to be studying. Mrs. Galitzer is the reason why I am the Jewish woman I am today, and I can honestly attribute that to her. I do not come from a religious family but her initiative to teach me the Mitzvot for Nashim is why I do this very things today. She made the biggest effect on my life, and with tears in my eyes as I write this, I am truly saddened that someone could not give her the opportunity to let her affect other people the way he affected me. She is a role model, that I can’t believe and don’t want to believe that you are doing away with. And Rabbi Lefkowitz, is that fun loving Rabbi that reaches out to the students who just start on their quest in life. He teaches them not only Chumash but life lessons that you should help everyone. How can someone take these type of people, Heroes away from the students? I cannot fathom this. The only question I have is why? Why destroy future generations? Why destroy my home that I love so much? Why?

Sasha, your writing is amazing. I agree with everything you said.
Before I moved to Israel in the middle of 10th grade (2004) Rabbi Lefkowitz and Mrs. Heber made me a going away party in the office. I felt so honored. Rabbi Lefkowitz is the most energetic guy around. He always encouraged students to participate in activities. He brings school spirit to the school. Mrs. Heber is an amazing woman. We always had shabbatons at her home, which bonded the class. We baked challah and prepared for Shabbat together. Her classes made a great impact on my life. I looked forward to every Friday when we would review the weekly Parsha, which I later shared with my family at my Shabbat table. She is more than a teacher to her students she is a friend and role model. Mrs. Galitzer was the leader of the women’s Minyan when I was in middle school. We learned the prayers and the meanings of the prayers. It was a wonderful Minyan.
I hope Hillel understands what great people they are losing.

Unfortunately, these people do not understand what they are doing and losing!!! These egocentric individuals are concerned about their self serving interests and needs = =they are not concerned with the community or the consequence we are sure to face at the end of this rollercoast.

I implore everyone to take note. Rather than bringing speakers like Rebbitzen Jungreis to the school to talk to the parents about Jewish values - - perhaps the Catholic administration and Board should be forced to sit through a session to understand what its all about.

We are allowing ourselves to be hurt and will end up the victims of this battle if we do not take action.

We are all empowered to speak up — -Do so - - it is your right and your responsibility.

I think the issue is more ethical than anything else.
Good ethics + good results = positive school
