After perusing the musings on this most extraordinary web site, the administration, student body, parents, alumni, and staff should be cognizant of the following:
1. As of this moment the fired (non-renewed) teachers are still non-renewed. No contract offers have been placed on the table.
2. These individuals are all “free agents” and are actively evaluating other options.
3. You won’t realize what you had until its gone.
4. You are still saddled with the same old board, struggling administration, and same issues.
5. No teacher, staff, or administrator should feel secure working in the Hillel environment.

Yes, agreed - - this is exactly what the school is facing. Not to mention - -with the damage these issues have done and the negative media publicity - -they only NEW teachers we will be able to recruit to fill the open slots are ones that are unable to find a position elsewhere or those not from this area.
Our teachers are our biggest asset! People need to realize that without teacher - we would all be illiterate! They are our lifeblood and should not be discounted!

I would be interested to know how many other current parents are actively pursuing becoming “ex-Hillel parents” as I am. If there are others, then I congratulate the board: Mission Accomplished! You have succeeded in chasing away the remaining parents who are actually interested in a Jewish education. No one will now stand in the way of your “vision”. No “public opinion” to pester you. No one to “sway” you from where you are going. Good luck to you.

By Ex-Hillel I meant that my kids have already graduated and I have no children at the school.
Would I keep my child at Hillel today? Not a chance. The school has totally lost its Jewish soul. The Jewish studies have been watered down to after school Talmud Torah level.
The religous element and religous student body have gone elsewhere.

Let’s try to remember that Hillel is the biggest Jewish day school in the Souteast United States. It has made an impact on countless amount of people’s lives.
Any school you go to there will be problems like this.
I am about to graduate college and Hillel is close to my heart like family. It is worth fighting for and saving for the next generation.
I have seen so many parents take their kids out of Hillel because they thought the grass was greener on the other side. Most people come back because Hillel is like a family. Every family has issues but we just can’t give up and leave the family when things are going bad.
Let’s work together to make it a what it used to be.

Agreed Isaac.
Hillel can be what it was - - if we continue to fight - - Hopefully your family is still involved and will continue to do so.
….and yes - - there are many that do leave and come back - - the grass is not always greener - - but, I can tell you that this time - - it is much different from those from before.
We need to strive to rebuild our home and the center for excellence in Jewish education and traditional Torah Values.
