It’s Not a Soccer Game

April 15th, 2007 · 16 Comments

The following anonymous email was sent to me:

You asked for it, so here it his: Holden’s profile as presented on the web & his Resume:

http://www.zoominfo.com/Search/PersonDetail.aspx?PersonID=301128188

Coach Holden: hillel is not a soccer field – you can not replace new “players” Into Jewish Education & create a new soccer team.

Besides, us ‘Nation of the Book’ – “Ham Hassefer” is this our chosen leader? – Chutzpa!

And to the prestigious search committee – Dash & friends: you made a ‘bunch’ of mistakes in the past (Buncher/Fine). Why the nominations are never based on the teacher’s recommendations & committee? As always ‘puppet committees’ for Cover-ups…

Step down …let US as community choose our leaders!!

    Wow. This resume is super-fluff.

EDUCATION major. EDUCATION masters. EDUCATION doctorate.

    A COACH ??????

Hillel teachers are specialists in their fields or areas of disciplines. They have Bachelors and Masters degrees in very difficult subject areas. They have hours of training from the College Board if they teach AP.

Many of them are as knowledgeable, if not more knowledgeable, than some professors (Mrs. Konovitch, Mr. Cirulnik, etc.)

And this is the man who is supposedly qualified and knowledgeable enough to know how to run our school, a school comprised of top-notch educators far more qualified than he?

And now someone who’s an ELEMENTARY principal — probably with also some fluff educational degrees under his belt– is qualified to run a HIGH SCHOOL just because he’s Holden’s best friend from Kansas?

    HOW?
    IN WHAT WORLD?

How does Judy Dach pick these winners?

How does the rest of the Board just lay down and play dead and allow her to get away with this now that they are aware?

Just because the man is nice and you like him and you don’t want to hurt his feelings doesn’t mean he’s the best person for the job. Go watch a football game and have dinner with him, but don’t put him in charge of Klal Yisroel’s future.

WHY DOES THE BOARD CARE MORE ABOUT–HURTING HOLDEN’S FEELINGS THAN THEY CARE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THEIR CHILDREN?

This Board has very misaligned priorities and loyalties.

I really question their sanity at this point.

In all sincerity, if we are living in an era where we are appointing coaches to be Head of School, then I would much prefer to see Coach Steve Reiz be appointed Dean.

He has dedicated several years of his life to this institution. He is a mensch who cares about the school culture and has excellent interpersonal skills. Students, parents, and teachers all love him.

    And here’s a bonus: He’s Jewish!

    Directly from Holden’s resume
    It states the following:

Married with 3 children (perhaps at that time)
1987: Bachelor of Education - South Hampton University - South Hampton, England
1987: LaSainte Union College of Higher Education - Certificate of Catholic Education
1996: Washburn University, Topeka Kansas - Master of Education (School Administration)
2001: California Coast University, Santa Ana, California - Doctor of Education (School Administration)

There are some other distance learning certificates as well.

mr. dr. sir. coach. whatever. holden,

    STAY HOME TOMORROW!

If Adam Charles Holden claims his doctoral degree is from California Coast University in 2001:

Then it is an unaccredited degree since the Distance Education and Training Council does not recognize any degrees or certificates from Califronia Coast University prior to 2005. (The DETC is recognized by the US Department of Education and The Council for Higher Education Accredidation as a nationally recognized non-profit accredidating association of distance education institutions).

Therefore, Florida Statue # 817.567 applies since a doctorate from California Coast University (2001) is unaccredited by the U.S. Department of Education and The Council for Higher Education Accredidation. Anyone claiming the title of Ed.D. “Dr. in Education” without clarifying that this degree is from an unaccredited institution is committing academic fraud under Florida Law

and therefore is committing a misdemeanor in the first degree (punishable by up to a year in jail, a $1,000 fine, and revocation of a professional license.

    Any takers?

According to the State of Florida Teacher Certification “Look UP” website

There are no records for Adam Holden:

Therefore he does not have a Florida Teaching Professional License to revoke.

    anonymous,

    that website isn’t always accurate

  • 9 anonymous // Apr 16, 2007 at 12:04 am

    It is now…

  • 10 Concerned Citizen // Apr 16, 2007 at 12:14 am

    no. it’s not. i know.

  • 11 anonymous // Apr 16, 2007 at 6:39 am

If he has no license to revoke why is he in the high school teaching - - and teaching AP classes?

  • 12 Concerned Citizen // Apr 16, 2007 at 7:37 am

There are plenty of licensed educators whose names do not show up on that website–that website is not entirely accurate. You need to CALL the Florida dept. of ed. for that info. Don’t rely on the website lookup. I know it to be inaccurate for a fact. He also may hold a valid license from a difft. state like Kansas or California and that would enable him to teach in Florida. Teaching an AP English course, however, seems highly problematic. I’m not aware of any Coaches who hold certificates that they attended AP training seminars given by the College Board. Granted, anyone can legally teach an AP course without the certificate but doing so is absolutely unheard of and not educationally sound at all. Most teachers who teach AP courses have attended the seminars more than once and hold a few certificates granted by the College Board stating so–not to mention that teaching the AP Language and Composition course–even as a substitute for a few months–without training seems highly unconscionable as it is an extremely difficult course to teach. It is considered to be more difficult to get a 5 on that exam than on the AP Literature exam. Hope that information is useful.

I would also think that a person who teaches an AP course should probably hold at least a bachelors or masters in that subject area.

The previous APEnglish teacher at Hillel actually taught at the university level before coming to Hillel.

    Some more vital info:

Next High-School Principal: Tymony Bonnila from Topeaka, KS –
Also worked in the Hyman Brand Academy from Kansas.
Background: similar to Holden’s (Also Coach):
B.A., Ottawa University; M.A., Washburn University

Look at lower rating both him & Holden received from
    Ratemyteachers.com :

    http://www.ratemyteachers.com/schools/kansas/overland_park/hyman_brand_hebrew_academy/tymony__bonilla

    http://www.ratemyteachers.com/schools/kansas/overland_park/hyman_brand_hebrew_academy/adam__holden

Any fraud can be reported to The Florida Center for Advising & Academic Support (FCAAS) Dept. of Education & Professional Practice services: (850) 245-0505

Probably, Holden’s certification is pending, as he is new in Florida.
Report the fraud on his Resume, and it will no longer be processed!

I called the number above and they looked up our school. Because this school does not participate in state funded scholarships, there is nothing they can do. They said to call the Better Business Bureau.
